Rather than make a big fuss about the problem, she then set about trying to fix the situation.
"Pique" and "peek" (this is one in particular that I notice gets mixed up a LOT in stories I read, and it makes me...twitchy, LOL.)

Another one that's really often mixed up: "lose" and "loose"

After waking from hibernation the bear now wandered through the forest of bare trees in search for food.
Now two words that I tended to mix up all the time until someone pointed out to me that they were not interchangable: "past" and "passed"
